A compression spring is a mechanical spring that is designed to withstand compressive forces and store energy. The compression spring is used to apply force to the valve disc or ball, keeping it closed until the fluid pressure in the system exceeds the pressure of the spring. Once the pressure in the system exceeds the pressure of the spring, the valve opens, allowing fluid to flow in the desired direction.
