The Torque converter is a component located between the engine flywheel and the automatic transmission. It replaces the clutch found in manual transmissions and acts as a fluid coupling. This converter is made up of three main components, which include the impeller, turbine, and stator. The impeller is a pump driven by the engine's flywheel, with angled blades that propel transmission fluid. The turbine is a rotor connected to the transmission shaft, rotated by the circulating fluid. Lastly, the stator is a stationary vane assembly positioned between the impeller and turbine, redirecting fluid flow for increased torque.
Attributes:
• Hardened with Brinell hardness value of 80 MIN, which indicates its resistance against deformation
• Provided with corrosion resistance and can withstand exposure to harsh environments
• Manufactured to precise specifications and are built for durability and reliability
Applications:
The Torque Converter is a hydrodynamic fluid coupling that transmits rotational power from the engine's flywheel to the automatic transmission. It utilizes a turbine pump and circulating transmission fluid to achieve torque multiplication at lower engine speeds and enables smooth gear changes.
