The Stack Hex Lock Nut is mounted on the threaded end of a shaft within the differential or bevel gear assembly of a machine. It sits against another nut, which is tightened onto the shaft. The Stack Lock Nut's unique thread design creates friction when tightened against the first nut. This friction helps prevent the first nut from working loose due to the constant rotation and vibrations experienced in these gear assemblies.

• Suitable for moderate strength applications, this steel has good formability and a minimum hardness of 85 HRB on the Rockwell B scale
