A Clutch Piston is used to engage and disengage the torque converter. The piston has a series of grooves on its surface. The grooves are used to contain the fluid that is used to power the piston. The piston is attached to a connecting rod, which in turn is attached to a clutch plate. When the fluid is pressurized, it enters the cylinder and pushes the piston down. The connecting rod then converts the linear motion of the piston into the rotary motion of the clutch plate. This causes the clutch plate to engage with the turbine, which transfers power from the engine to the transmission. To disengage the torque converter, the fluid is released from the cylinder. This allows the piston to move up, which disengages the clutch plate from the turbine.
