638-2620: C4.4 Replacement Engine Arrangement

REQUIRED For Replacement labeled Engines, Long Blocks, and short blocks sold within the U.S. and U.S. Territories the engine core (i.e. old engine) that is removed MUST be returned to your selling Caterpillar dealer, so that they can return to Caterpillar  OR  destroy, as required by law. Proof of return or destruction will then be provided to the EPA and or California ARB if required. See PELJ1301 for additional details.

The Crankcase Front Guard protects the crankcase, a necessary engine part. This guard shields the front portion of the crankcase from damage caused by debris, rocks, and external impacts during operation. By offering a protective barrier, the guard minimizes the risk of punctures and cracks in the crankcase, which leads to engine failure and oil leaks. It also helps block dirt and other contaminants from entering the engine compartment, preserving the internal components and maintaining engine cleanliness.

Applications:
The Crankcase Front Guard is mounted directly in front of the crankcase, in the lower section of the engine compartment to provide a protective shield for the crankcase to deflect contaminants and prevent them from entering the engine area.
