617-5397: 32.0 Liter Engine

REQUIRED For Replacement labeled Engines, Long Blocks, and short blocks sold within the U.S. and U.S. Territories the engine core (i.e. old engine) that is removed MUST be returned to your selling Caterpillar dealer, so that they can return to Caterpillar  OR  destroy, as required by law. Proof of return or destruction will then be provided to the EPA and or California ARB if required. An Engine generates power by converting energy obtained from fuel into mechanical motion. It is comprised of twelve cylinders that ignite the fuel-air mixtures, resulting in controlled explosions that drive pistons. The reciprocating motion of these pistons is then converted into rotary motion through a crankshaft, which transfers power to the gearbox, which then transmits the power in different ratios according to the gear engaged.

Attributes:
• Bore Diameter of 145mm ensures even reciprocation of the piston inside the cylinder block
• Turbocharged-aftercooled induction type helps improve the density and oxygen content in the air

An Engine is used to power the machine's drive train and hydraulic components associated with it to make movement and operations.
