616-5042: Sleeve Bearing

A Straight Sleeve Bearing is a sliding contact bearing in which the surface of the shaft slides over the surface of the bush. It consists of a cylindrical sleeve with a smooth inner surface that allows a shaft to rotate inside it with minimal friction. The angle of contact of the bearing with the journal is 3600, therefore, it is a full journal bearing. With the addition of lubrication, sleeve bearings offer a low coefficient of friction and provide excellent wear resistance.

Attributes:
• Carburization depth is in the range of 1.2mm - 2.2mm and hardness lies between 59 - 64 HRC
• Bearing to operate in a bore of size 164mm and a shaft of 139.383mm to pass through
• Bearing end faces colored yellow to distinguish between front and rear saddle inserts during installation
• Possesses high shock load resistance, minimize vibration (and therefore noise)

Applications:
A Straight Sleeve Bearing is suitable for applications where press fitting into a housing bore is the most practical bearing retention method. These are used in crankshaft bearings in petrol and diesel engines, centrifugal pumps and large size electric motors.
