The gas-filled strut consists of a cylindrical housing that encloses a piston rod assembly. Inside the housing, there is a pressurized gas, nitrogen, which provides the primary lifting force. The piston rod is attached to both ends of the housing, with one end connected to the hood part and the other end affixed to the machine's main structure.
