An Extension Spring is designed to resist stretching or elongation when a force is applied to it. When a force is applied to the spring by pulling or stretching it, it experiences an elastic deformation. This deformation stores potential energy within the spring. Once the force is removed, the extension spring recoils and returns to its original length, releasing the stored energy.
