A Circuit Breaker is an electromechanical device that protects an electrical circuit from overcurrent. It consists of a movable contact, a stationary contact, a thermal trip element, and a magnetic trip element. The thermal trip element is made to trip the circuit breaker in the event of an overload condition. The magnetic trip element is made to trip the circuit breaker in the event of a short circuit condition.
Attributes:
• Prevents damage to electrical equipment
• B type tripping characteristics of a circuit breaker indicate that the breaker will trip between 3 and 5 times its rated current in a short circuit situation
• Manufactured to precise specifications and is built for durability and reliability
Applications:
A Circuit Breaker interrupts the flow of current in a single circuit and prevents fires caused by electrical overloads and short circuits.
