An Internal Retainer Ring, also known as a snap ring, is a type of fastener used to secure the ring gear with the bearing cage in the transfer gear assembly. It is a circular ring with a small gap that allows it to be snapped into place, creating a secure hold on the ring gear assembly. It is made of durable steel to withstand the loads and stresses that are generated during operation.
Attributes:
• Hardened to Rockwell C Scale Hardness value of 40-48HRC, which indicates its resistance against deformation
• Withstands high rotational speeds and loads without slipping
Applications:
An Internal Retainer Ring is used to maintain the positioning and alignment of the ring gear inside the bearing cage of the output transfer gear and retain the gear in place, preventing axial movement of the gear.
