A Straight Sleeve Bearing is a sliding contact bearing in which the surface of the shaft slides over the surface of the bush. It consists of a cylindrical sleeve with a smooth inner surface that allows a shaft to rotate inside it with minimal friction. The angle of contact of the bearing with the journal is 3600, therefore, it is a full journal bearing. With the addition of lubrication, sleeve bearings offer a low coefficient of friction and provide excellent wear resistance.

• Operating temperature range is -500C and 930C
• Black cloured and hardness is shore A 91
• Can accommodate misalignment between the shaft and the bearing surface
• Possesses high shock load resistance, minimizes vibration (and therefore noise)

Applications:
A Straight Sleeve Bearing is suitable for applications where press fitting into a housing bore is the most practical bearing retention method. These are used in crankshaft bearings in petrol and diesel engines, centrifugal pumps, and large-size electric motors.
