The Hydraulic Lift Cylinder Piston is used to separate the pressure zones inside the cylinder which helps to extend and retract the ends of the hydraulic arms, bucket, or dozer lift of the machine. The piston is machined with grooves to fit elastomeric or metal seals and bearing elements. The difference in pressure between the two sides of the piston causes the cylinder to extend and retract, enabling the operator to operate the hydraulic buckets or arms of the machine.
