A governor drive pump consists of a flyweight mechanism that is driven by the engine crankshaft. The flyweights are connected to a linkage that controls the fuel rack, which in turn controls the amount of fuel delivered to the engine. As the engine speed increases, the flyweights move outward, causing the linkage to move the fuel rack, increasing the fuel output of the pump. Conversely, as the engine speed decreases, the flyweights move inward, causing the linkage to reduce the fuel output of the pump.
Attributes:
• Ensures the engine receives the correct amount of fuel for its speed and load, improving performance and efficiency
• Manufactured to precise specifications and are built for durability, reliability, and productivity
Applications:
A governor drive pump is used in the engine unit to control the speed and output of the fuel pump which defines the amount of fuel delivered to the engine.
