A Compression Spring is a type of mechanical spring constructed to resist the compressive load applied to it. When a compressive force is applied, the coils are compressed, and the spring stores the energy. The shape of the compression spring is cylindrical, with a helical coil that is tightly wound to resist compression. This spring is placed between the thrust bearing and adjustment screw in the governor and fuel pump drive.
Attributes:
• Provided with a spring rate of 1.08 N/mm, which provides high stiffness to the spring
• The direction of coils in the compression spring is left-hand side, which provides enhanced stability
Applications:
A Compression Spring is used in the governor and fuel pump drive to ensure the precise control of fuel flow which in turn directly controls the engine speed based on varying load and operating conditions.
