A Water Aftercooler is a heat exchanger component located between the turbocharger and the intake manifold of the engine. It consists of a robust core made of aluminum that provides efficient heat transfer. The core contains a network of tubes or fins that allow the compressed air to pass through. The coolant flows around the tubes or fins, absorbing the heat from the compressed air and carrying it away from the engine compartment. The aftercooler is provided with inlet and outlet connections for the compressed air and coolant, along with mounting brackets for proper installation.
Attributes:
• Lowers the intake air temperature, reducing the likelihood of detonation or knocking, which can cause engine damage
• By reducing the intake air temperature, the aftercooler helps protect engine components from excessive heat
Applications:
A Water Aftercooler works by cooling down the compressed air before it enters the engine's intake manifold. As the compressed air flows through the aftercooler's tubes or fins, the circulating coolant absorbs the heat, effectively lowering the air temperature. This cooler and denser air entering the engine improves combustion efficiency, resulting in increased power output, reduced fuel consumption, and lower exhaust gas temperatures.
