An Engine Radiator is a heat exchanger that utilizes airflow to remove excess heat from the engine coolant. It is made with an aluminum or copper core, which provides excellent heat conductivity. The core is composed of a series of small tubes that carry the coolant, surrounded by fins that increase the surface area for heat dissipation. The core is usually enclosed within a durable metal or plastic housing, which also contains the inlet and outlet connections for coolant flow.
Attributes:
• Efficiently handles the significant heat generated by the engine
• Prevents overheating thereby protecting engine components from heat-related damage
Applications:
An Engine Radiator works in conjunction with other cooling system components. Coolant, heated by the engine, flows from the engine block through the inlet connection into the tubes of the radiator. As the hot coolant passes through the tubes, the heat transfers to the surrounding fins and is then dissipated into the air flowing through the radiator. This process cools down the coolant, which then flows back to the engine through the outlet connection, completing the cooling cycle.
