An Engine Temperature Sensor is located near the engine cylinder block, often screwed into the engine cylinder head, or thermostat housing, where it can directly measure the temperature of the coolant. It works by utilizing a thermistor, a type of resistor whose electrical resistance changes with temperature. As the engine warms up, the resistance of the thermistor decreases, allowing more current to flow through it. This change in resistance is then converted into an electrical signal, usually a voltage, which is sent to the control unit.
Attributes:
• Providing accurate temperature measurements, often with high precision
• Manufactured to precise specifications and are built for durability and reliability
Applications:
An Engine Temperature Sensor contributes to the reliable and efficient operation of the engines by providing accurate temperature data to the engine management system.
