A Clevis Pin consists of a cylindrical body with a uniform diameter along its length with a drilled hole at the end of the Pin. It is used to connect two components in a way that allows for relative rotation between them. The drilled hole is called a cross hole, it is used to accommodate a locking mechanism, which prevents the Pin from sliding out of position. The pin is inserted through the aligned holes of the components to be connected and then secured in place with a cotter pin or a split pin, which prevents the clevis pin from slipping out.
Attributes:
• Distributes the loads and forces evenly across the connected parts
• Yield strength of up to 345MPa to withstand high temperatures and vibrations
Applications:
A Clevis Pin is used to secure two components together preventing any unintentional disengagement. It provides a pivot point for the connected parts, facilitating the oscillating movement of the parts.
