A Starter Motor Drive includes a drive gear, an overrunning clutch, and a solenoid. When the ignition key is turned, an electrical current is sent to the solenoid, which then activates the drive gear. The drive gear referred to as the Bendix gear, is to mesh with the engine's flywheel. This engagement allows the starter motor to turn the engine over, initiating the combustion process.

Applications:
A Starter Motor Drive engages the engine's flywheel to initiate the starting process of an engine. It transfers power from the starter motor to the engine's crankshaft, allowing the engine to begin its combustion cycle.
