A Serpentine Belt is used to transfer rotational power from the engine's crankshaft to the refrigerant compressor. As the engine runs, the crankshaft turns, causing the serpentine belt to rotate. This rotational motion is then transmitted to the compressor pulley, driving the compressor shaft and causing it to compress the refrigerant gas.
