REQUIRED For Replacement labeled Engines, Long Blocks, and short blocks sold within the U.S. and U.S. Territories the engine core (i.e. old engine) that is removed MUST be returned to your selling Caterpillar dealer, so that they can return to Caterpillar  OR  destroy, as required by law. Proof of return or destruction will then be provided to the EPA and or California ARB if required. See PELJ1301 for additional details.

The Engine Long Block includes the engine block, which houses the cylinders, pistons, crankshaft, and other vital components of the engine. The block provides structural support and houses the lubrication system, cooling system, and other internal components necessary for engine operation. The Long Block also includes the cylinder head assembly, which sits atop the engine block and contains the intake and exhaust valves, camshaft(s), and valve train components. The cylinder head seals the combustion chambers and provides passages for air intake and exhaust gases.
