A Steering Axle Universal Joint consists of the fork and the spider. The fork is to securely attach to the steering column shaft and the steering gear shaft, allowing the transfer of rotational motion between them. The spider is the central part of the steering axle universal joint. It is a cross-shaped body with four arms, each of which aligns with an arm of the fork.
Attributes:
• Allows for smooth steering operation even when the two shafts are not perfectly aligned
• Reduce friction and enable smooth rotation
Applications:
A Steering Axle Universal Joint accommodates the angular misalignment between the steering column shaft and the steering gear shaft. As the steering wheel is turned, the shaft rotates, and the universal joint allows this rotational motion to be transmitted to the steering gear shaft despite their misalignment.
