A Pump Drive Idler Gear is a toothed gear connected directly to the drive assembly in a gear pump. As the prime mover operates, the drive gear engages with an accessory drive pump gear, which is the inlet drive to the pump assembly, to create a mechanical connection. This connection enables the rotation of the pump's drive, which in turn shafts in the drive arrangements and transmits power to the output shaft.
