An Engine Flywheel is mounted on the rear end of the engine's crankshaft. Its primary function is to store rotational energy. During the power stroke of the engine, the flywheel absorbs the energy generated by the combustion process, storing it as rotational kinetic energy. This stored energy helps to smooth out the engine's power delivery, reducing fluctuations in rotational speed and providing a more consistent output of power to the transmission.
Attributes:
• Provided with a Polar moment of inertia of 1.83517 Nms² allows the flywheel to maintain a more consistent rotational speed
• Helps to compensate for momentary drops in engine speed due to load fluctuations
Applications:
An Engine Flywheel serves as a mounting surface for the machine's clutch assembly and a connection point for the starter motor, allowing it to turn the engine over and start the combustion process.
