A Current Transformer measures high electrical currents flowing through a conductor and steps them down to a lower, more manageable level. The transformer consists of a primary winding, which is connected in series with the conductor carrying the current to be measured, and a secondary winding. The primary winding of the current transformer is made to handle high current levels, such as up to 2500 amps, while the secondary winding is constructed to provide a proportional output current of 5 amps. This step-down in current allows for easier measurement and monitoring of the current flow. The transformer is housed in a protective enclosure to ensure safety and reliability.
