A Service Meter Window is a transparent window within the gauge housing, which is exposed to the engine's lubrication system. As the engine runs, pressurized engine oil flows through a calibrated channel into the window. A small, flexible diaphragm sits within this channel. When pressurized oil enters the chamber, it exerts force on the diaphragm. This force causes the diaphragm to deflect, which in turn moves a pointer or indicator on the gauge face. The position of this pointer corresponds directly to the oil pressure within the engine.
