Compression springs are helical designed springs for compression and tension whereby the spring gets compressed (shorter) as more weight is applied. One of the biggest benefits of compression springs is the ability to resist the movement of another component. This feature makes a very tiny compression spring integral in the internal construction and function of the gauge. Compression springs are open-coil helical springs that resist compressive forces as they are applied to them. When a heavy object or force is applied to the spring, it condenses, storing the force until it is eventually released.
