The fan drive pulley adapter is normally positioned on the crankshaft of the engine and offers a mechanism to secure and drive a pulley, which in turn drives a belt that turns the fan. The use of a fan drive pulley adapter allows the fan to be operated indirectly by the engine rather than directly by a mechanical or electric fan drive.
