To prevent excessive pressure buildup in the cooling system, the excess coolant is directed into the recovery tank via an overflow tube. This ensures that the radiator remains at an optimal level and prevents coolant loss. When the engine cools down, the coolant contracts, creating a vacuum in the system. This vacuum draws coolant back from the recovery tank into the radiator, maintaining proper coolant levels for efficient cooling.
