Compression springs come in a variety of strengths and sizes to fit specific applications. Compression springs are helical designed springs for compression and tension whereby the spring gets compressed (shorter) as more weight is applied. They offer a resistive force when a liner force is applied along the axis of wind. Helical Compression is the most common metal spring configuration. These coil springs can work independently, though often assembled over a guide rod or fitted inside a hole.
