The bevel differential gears help to connect shafts whose axes lie at an angle to each other, although most of the shafts are at right angles. The tooth profile is the same as used for spur gears except that the tooth gets progressively smaller as it approaches the apex of the projected cone. The Bevel gear is for use in differential systems to transmit power from the drive shaft to axle shafts.

• General efficiency is high, typically 98-99%.
• Increase speed or decrease speed or leave the speeds the same depending on the size of gears used together.
