A Thrust Disc is designed to handle the thrust or axial load that occurs when the axle is turning or experiencing uneven traction. The thrust disc is located between the side gears and the differential case. It consists of a flat circular plate with splines or teeth on its outer edge that engage with corresponding splines or teeth on the side gears. This allows the thrust disc to transmit torque from the side gears to the differential case. The function of the thrust disc is to distribute the axial load evenly across its surface area. When the axle is turning, the side gears rotate at different speeds, causing the thrust forces to be exerted on the thrust disc.
